This Privacy Policy describes how HomeTank ("We", "Us", "Our", or the "Company") collects, processes, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application and related services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy in strict accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India, the Information Technology Act, 2000, and Google Play Data Safety guidelines.

Introduction & Google Play Data Safety

Welcome to HomeTank. We engineered HomeTank to deliver fully autonomous, set-and-forget water tank automation with live mobile telemetry—not to harvest your data. All communication between your Android app, cloud telemetry, and home hardware is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/SSL protocols. We never sell, trade, or rent your personal information, device logs, or water usage data to advertising companies or third parties.

1. Roles Under the DPDP Act, 2023

►
Data Fiduciary: As a Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act (India), we process only the minimal necessary telemetry and account data required to provide remote tank automation and safety fail-safes.
►
Data Principal: You act as the Data Principal and maintain full rights to request the immediate deletion of all your account and hardware telemetry records.

2. Notice of Itemized Data Collection (Section 5, DPDP Act)

We collect and process the following specific categories of personal data with your explicit consent:

A. Account & Contact Information

►
What is collected: Phone number, name, and email address.
►
Purpose: Used for authentication and critical SMS alerts, if enabled, as well as providing customer support.

B. IoT Hardware & Telemetry Data

►
What is collected: Real-time/historical water tank levels (percentage/liters), ground motor pump status (ON/OFF), RF signal strength (RSSI), battery voltage, and error timestamps (e.g., dry run detection).
►
Purpose: To provide real-time water level monitoring, remote pump control, and trigger automated safety fail-safes (e.g., shutting off the motor if the tank reaches 100% capacity).

C. Technical Device Information

►
What is collected: Mobile device model, Android OS version, app version, and crash diagnostic logs.
►
Purpose: To help us improve app stability, troubleshoot RF signal propagation, and diagnose connectivity issues in your building.

Device Permissions & Justifications

To perform its advertised core functionality as an advanced time tracker, mission countdown tool, and exact alarm clock, our application requests specific operating system permissions:

Location / Nearby Devices (BLE & Wi-Fi Scan)
Hardware Setup & Pairing: Required by Android solely to discover and pair with your HomeTank wireless roof sensor and ground motor hardware during initial onboarding. We do not track or store your physical geographical location. Your location data never leaves your device or goes to the internet.
Push Notifications
Safety & Overflow Alerts: Used exclusively to alert you in real-time about critical water tank events, such as 'Tank Full — Motor Auto-Stopped', 'Dry Run Protection Triggered', or low water level warnings.
Local Network & Wi-Fi Access
Local Device Control: Enables the mobile app to communicate with your HomeTank central hub over your home Wi-Fi network for instant local telemetry and firmware updates.

3. Consent & Right to Withdraw Consent (Section 6, DPDP Act)

We retain your account information and telemetry logs only for as long as your HomeTank hardware is active or until you request account deletion. Historical water usage logs older than 12 months are automatically anonymized or purged.

Right to Withdraw Consent (Section 6(4))

You have the absolute right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw consent by:

►
You can withdraw consent by requesting account deletion or by disconnecting your hardware from the internet.
